DENVER -- A two-week losing streak that included a tumultuous player-coach run-in during a game is over and the Denver Nuggets can finally exhale. Ty Lawson scored 18 points, including a key 3-pointer with less than a minute to play, and the Nuggets snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 111-108 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. "Its a wonderful feeling," said Kenneth Faried, one of six Nuggets to score in double figures. "We got the monkey off our back. We cant put it back on." Lawson also had 12 assists for the Nuggets, who played without Andre Miller. His two-game suspension stemming from a verbal clash with coach Brian Shaw during Wednesdays loss to the Philadelphia 76ers was rescinded by the club earlier Friday. But Miller, who lit into Shaw over his lack of playing time in the waning minutes of Wednesdays game in full view of fans and teammates, will remain away from the team until Monday under a newly issued personal leave. With frustration and uncertainty running rampant, Shaw held individual meetings with his players, and then had a group session with the team Thursday. "It was great," guard Randy Foye said. "Coach called us in and just explained how much confidence he had in us, what he expected from us. He reassured us that hes with us 120 per cent. He told us that he needs us to be with him 120 per cent, and to believe in the game plan. Coach was awesome, explaining the things that he needed from us, and I think guys took that and ran with it." Shaw said dealing with the fallout from the losing streak as well as the verbal clash with Miller was just part of the job. "Everything thats gone on in the last 48 hours is part of what you sign up for," Shaw said. "Theres ups and downs. ... But just allowing everybody to voice how they felt about the way things were going, assess themselves, assess us as a coaching staff, I think that just liberated everyone." Faried and Timofey Mozgov added 16 points apiece for Denver and Nate Robinson had 15 points, including nine in the fourth quarter. Zach Randolph had 25 points to lead Memphis and Mike Conley added 23. Mike Miller narrowly missed a tying 3-pointer at the buzzer. "We didnt guard well," Grizzlies coach David Joerger said. "They got the loose balls. They got the offensive rebounds and we didnt convert on fast breaks. We gave up too many easy baskets." Trailing by 10 at the break, the Grizzlies got back in the game by opening the third quarter with a 13-4 run. Tony Allens layup little more than three minutes later put the Grizzlies in front 65-64, their first lead since the opening moments of the game. The Nuggets came back, with help from a three-point play by Evan Fournier and a 3-pointer by Robinson to take a 77-75 lead into the fourth quarter. The Nuggets extended their lead to 87-77 with 9:32 remaining, getting 3-pointers from Randy Foye and Robinson around a breakaway dunk by Faired. The Grizzlies made another push, getting seven consecutive points capped by Conleys 3-pointer to pull to 98-96 with 4:05 left. Robinson answered with a 3-pointer to give the Nuggets a bit of breathing room, but Tayshaun Prince drained a 3-pointer with a minute left, getting the Grizzlies within 107-104. Lawson rebuilt the Nuggets lead to six points with a clutch 3-pointer with 53.1 seconds left. Memphis scored the next four points, and with 4.1 seconds left fouled Robinson, who made one of two free throws with the Grizzlies rebounding and getting the ball with just over 3 seconds remaining. Millers attempt for a tying 3-pointer hit the back of the rim and bounced out. "They played desperate. They needed a win and they played like it," Conley said. "They worked hard for it and they outworked us at the end." NOTES: Lawson has had eight points-assists double doubles this season. ... Mozgov has come off the bench to score in double figures 13 times this season. ... Memphis outscored the Nuggets 27-19 in the third quarter, getting 12 of its points from the free throw line. ... The Grizzlies attempted 38 free throws in all, making 29. Only Houston (44 on Nov. 16) shot more free throws against the Nuggets. ... However, the intensity and physicality that has characterized the postseason so far has caught Gretzky by surprise. "Its a little bit risqué right now," Gretzky told Philadelphia radio station 97. http://www.eaglesrookiestore.com/Eagles-Ron-Jaworski-Jersey/. On a hot, sweaty day, the Hall of Famer looked cool and comfortable.ST. LOUIS -- Dez Bryant had so much distance on the closest defender, it was pitch and catch. Blown coverage made it the easiest play the Dallas Cowboys made in a comeback that matched the biggest in franchise history. "No one ever comes that wide open," quarterback Tony Romo said of the 68-yard touchdown pass that was among the big plays that helped the Cowboys erase a 21-0 deficit and stun the St. Louis Rams 34-31 on Sunday. "You want to make sure you dont do anything stupid." The Cowboys (2-1) had plenty of time to chip away, and no one panicked about the cushion theyd spotted the Rams. "We never blinked, I can honestly say that," Bryant said. Romo has 21 comeback victories in the fourth quarter or overtime, a franchise best. "Tony went out there and did what Tony do," Bryant said. "He was poised and he knew what he wanted to do." Terrance Williams scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter, and Bruce Carter returned an interception 25 yards for a TD on the next snap, capping the rally. DeMarco Murrays 1-yard run late in the first half began the rally. Dallas also rallied from a 21-point deficit in 1984 against New Orleans and 1999 against Washington, although both of those wins came in overtime. It tied the second-largest lead blown by the Rams (1-2), who slowed Murray but got burned everywhere else. Among other breakdowns was a flubbed snap by centre Scott Wells, who didnt realize Austin Davis was in the shotgun, resulting in a lost fumble, and a dropped touchdown pass by Jared Cook that could have put the Rams up 28-21. They settled for a field goal. "I feel like I let this game slip through my hands and its my fault," Cook said. St. Louis is 0-2 at home and was whipped 34-6 by Minnesota in the opener. Fisher said Davis played well, but that Shaun Hill would be the starter after the upcoming bye week.dddddddddddd "So, weve got some work to do and some time to look at what were doing," Fisher said. "They played very, very hard. But they didnt play very smart." Murray had 100 yards on 24 carries and lost a fumble for the fourth straight game dating to last season, even after switching from carrying the ball on his left side to the right. Three of his 10 career 100-yard games are against the Rams and all leading to victories, with a franchise-record 253 yards in 2011 and 175 yards last season. Janoris Jenkins 25-yard interception return, the fifth defensive touchdown in his three seasons, put the Rams up 21-0 with 6:06 to go in the first half. Davis cut the Cowboys lead to three points on a 4-yard pass to Austin Pettis with 2:36 to go, but Morris Claibornes interception clinched it with 1:02 left. Romo was 4 for 5 for 40 yards and scrambled 16 yards on third-and-13 on the go-ahead drive. His second-half play overshadowed a third costly INT of the year. "We were able to execute under pressure or whatever you want to say, blah, blah, blah," Romo said. "We got it done." Penalties and a turnover late in the first half helped the Cowboys close the gap. Murrays 1-yard run came a play after rookie Lamarcus Joyners interference call in the end zone. Henry Melton recovered a fumble on Scott Wells flubbed shotgun snap, and a roughing-the-passer call on Eugene Sims got Dallas closer for Dan Baileys 29-yard field goal. NOTES: The Cowboys are 2-1 for the fourth straight season and have won 12 in a row in Week 3. ... Former Rams great Isaiah Robertson was introduced on the sideline in the first quarter. ... Murray is among four Cowboys to begin a season with a rushing TD in the first four games. Emmit Smith did it four times, Marion Barber three times and Calvin Hill once. ' ' '
